One of our goals is to act for the public good. As part of that goal we have chosen to sponsor the well-known charity, The Children´s Society.

About The Children's Society
HRH The Duchess of Gloucester is the Royal President of The Children's Society.

The Children's Society works with and for children. They believe that no child is beyond hope, understanding or love. They aim to create a safer world where children are loved unconditionally and have the freedom to be children and learn from their mistakes.

The Children's Society focuses on those most in need - children and young people pushed to the edges of society, whose needs are not met by government services or other agencies. They work with:

  • children at risk on the streets
  • children in trouble with the law
  • young refugees
  • children with disabilities

The Children's Society works with these children to provide the services and support they need; to campaign to change systems that have failed them and to offer them hope for a better life.

Recently The Children's Society has launched Safe and Sound, a major campaign that enables its supporters and the public to turn their concerns into action. See The Children's Society web-site for more information on this important campaign.

The Institute's Role
The Children's Society will receive a charitable donation each year from us. In addition, they will be the beneficiary of choice for events or fundraising we undertake.

The very first cheque ever written by us was for £1,220 in support of The Children's Society's first ever Annual Ball.

What you can do
We encourage all our members to consider making donations to The Children's Society. You or your businesses may well be able to get tax relief on any donations - visit HM Revenue & Customs web site and search for "charitable donations".
