Family Finance Assistant Practice Manager

Following a strategic business review St Ive’s Chambers has a newly created position of Family Finance Assistant Practice Manager who will join our busy clerking team.

Candidates must be a confident communicator, conscientious, hard-working and enthusiastic, highly organised and possess a keen eye for detail.  You must be capable of working as part of a team as well as using own initiative. Experience of Lex or Meridian software would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will report to the Family Finance Practice Manager and the main responsibilities for the post are:

  • Assist the Practice Manager in all aspects of clerking
  • Assist in the marketing of the family finance team
  • Maintain and develop effective relationships with solicitors, clients and court staff
  • Assist with managing the practices of the family finance team
  • Assist with managing the family finance barristers’ diaries
  • Negotiate fees with clients
  • Assist with  billing of the family finance team
  • Work with the Legal Aid Agencies Case Cost Management system (CCMS)
  • Liaise with  clients, court staff , Legal Aid Agency and chambers fees clerks
  • Gain  a working knowledge of Legal Aid Agency  Fee Regulations
  • Deal with incoming calls and responding to requests efficiently.

Following a strategic business review St Ives’ chambers has a newly created position of Family Finance Practice Manager who will join our busy clerking team. We are ideally looking for individuals with experience in an established clerking or otherwise similar role.

Candidates must have experience of delivering practice management and business development services to a high standard and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.  They will be hard-working and enthusiastic, conscientious, highly organised and possess a keen eye for detail.  They must be capable of working as part of a team as well as using own initiative.  Experience of Lex or Meridian software would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will report to the Chambers Director, and the main responsibilities for the position are:

  • Day to day practice management  and development of the individual barristers
  • Business development and marketing strategies for the family finance team
  • Liaise with  solicitors, other professional clients and public access clients
  • Maintain and develop effective relationships with solicitors, clients and court staff
  • Report to the Heads of Group on a regular basis
  • Be part of the management team and report on a regular basis
  • Promote and market the family finance team
  • Management of the Assistant Practice Manager
  • Negotiate fees with clients and efficient billing
  • Deal with incoming calls and responding to requests efficiently.
  • Work with the Legal Aid Agencies Case Cost Management system (CCMS)
  • Deal with court staff , Legal Aid Agency and chambers fees clerks
  • Gain and maintain a full working knowledge of Legal Aid Agency  Fee Regulations
  • Liaise with Solicitors and the Legal Aid Agency  in relation to cost/documentation queries

  • Liaise with  clients, court staff , Legal Aid Agency and chambers fees clerks
  • Gain and maintain a full working knowledge of Legal Aid Agency  Fee Regulations
  • Liaise with Solicitors and the Legal Aid Agency  in relation to cost/documentation queries
  • Deal and solve issues resulting from rejected claims by the Legal Aid Agency
  • Deal with incoming calls and responding to requests efficiently.
