1. Applying to be a corporate member
If your organisation wishes to join the Institute (as opposed to individuals within your organisation taking out individual membership) then you should apply for corporate membership.
Corporate membership is not based upon legal practice experience. It is sufficient that you offer legal services or provide ancillary legal services (e.g. legal recruitment, training, publishing, etc.).
Membership costs £180 for 12 months – regardless of which country your organisation is based in.
2. Apply Now: Online Application Form
Apart from your contact details, etc., there are two main things we will ask you about in the application form. Please make sure you have this information available before completing the form as the form cannot be saved part-completed:
a). Which individual is going to be your main point of contact, and what are his/her contact details
b). If you have any matters that you need to draw to our attention relating to either to the organisation itself or its owners/board/board level management because they may affect our consideration of your application, e.g. previous convictions/current cases pending, bankruptcy or refused membership of another professional body, regulator or State agency etc. If you are not sure, please disclose the matter, or ask us about it in confidence first.

But first read the following:
You cannot save a copy of your application form, so do not complete it until you have all the information you need to hand, and you are ready to submit the form.
By applying, you have implicitly agreed to comply with our Institute Quality Standards for corporate members (seven month grace period to allow full compliance) and IOP Complaints Policy if elected to membership.
Submission and confirmation of receipt does not imply acceptance of your application. You will only be a corporate member of the Institute when we have approved your application and you have paid the first year's annual fee.
Corporate membership does not give any right to use our professional designations (e.g. Associate Paralegal / A.Inst.Pa). No individual staff are members. Institute logo use is with permission only.
Claims of Institute membership/any approved logo use can only continue so long as you remain a member of the Institute.
Don't worry if you get something wrong, or miss something out during the application process. We don't like bureaucracy and so any problems you have during the application process can be sorted out informally in a way that won't harm your application.
The Institute does not provide a regulatory function and should not be described as regulating your organisation.
Any information given in the application form must be kept up-to-date.
3. Apply Later: Offline Application Form
To save an application form for later completion/future submission by email, fax or post, please open it here and then save it to your own computer before completing it.
The form is in Microsoft Word 97-2003 format. If you cannot open the application form, then either:
a) Download the free Microsoft Word Viewer programme from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/891090. This will allow you to view and print off Word documents;
b) Save it and then convert it to a different file format using a free online file conversion service (e.g. www.zamzar.com);
c) Download and use the free Open Office™ suite of programmes to complete and return the form (this free series of office programs are all compatible with Microsoft Word/Office. Download it from http://openoffice.softuk.org/)
4. How and When to Pay?
Payment should be made at the same time as you send in the application form. It is not a problem if you apply online but send payment by post a few days later.
If you would rather we checked over your application before sending any money in, let us know as we are happy to do that (just make a note in the comments section of the online application form or in any covering letter/email for offline applications.
You can pay in one of three ways:
a). By Sterling cheque (UK account holders only) or Sterling bankers’ draft (everyone)
